The greatest compliment I ever received was during an art market when a man walked up to me after
browsing and said “It looks as though you have found peace.” Peace is something everyone struggles with.
While an individual painting may not give peace, the process of creating certainly does and this is the
feeling that drives my work.
I am a very technical builder; constructing each frame and stretching every canvas by hand. Each piece
has its own story and life. From the first cut of wood to the last detail on the canvas, each minute of the
process is unique. Some individual works have taken me 40+ hours to complete, while others just a few.
I see the basic elements that underline the complex and try to showcase those elements in their own glory.
Layering basic geometric elements has always been my approach whether that manifests in the canvas
itself or what is put on top.
